Personal Statement

My passion for photography began at a young age, when my father, a collector of photography equipment, gave me my first camera. He collected cameras as a way to honor my grandfather, who was a war photographer. Though I never had the opportunity to meet my grandfather, I learned much from studying his work.

I am deeply influenced by the works of master photographers such as Henri Cartier-Bresson, Marc Riboud, and Steve McCurry. My photography style and philosophy have been shaped by their work. I enjoy shooting landscapes, nature, and cityscapes, but I always try to include human elements in my compositions. My work is not necessarily about grand events, but rather, I focus on subtle changes in people's lives that reflect significant and profound meanings. In many of my landscape photographs, the landscape, trees, sky, water, and blowing grass are all centered around a small human figure.

My goal is to become a humanist photographer. I will use my lens to capture the romance and poetry of humanity, the evolution of human society, and the relationship between humanity and nature. Through my photography, I hope to be a witness to these things and to leave a lasting record of them for future generations.
